Tracking Your Progress
This page explains how outcome mastery, trends, and confidence work in ILS.
What mastery means
- Mastery is a normalized score for a learning outcome.
- It is based on graded submissions and rubric evidence.
- A higher mastery score means stronger performance on that learning goal.
What outcomes are
- Outcomes are learning goals or competencies.
- Each outcome may be linked to multiple assignments and rubric criteria.
- Your progress is tracked separately for each outcome.
Sample progress view
| Outcome | Mastery | Trend | Confidence | |---|---|---| | Algebra reasoning | 8.0 | Up | High | | Data interpretation | 6.2 | Flat | Medium | | Argument writing | 5.0 | Down | Low |
How to read your progress
- Up + High confidence: keep doing what worked.
- Flat + Medium confidence: reinforce the outcome with targeted practice.
- Down + Low confidence: review recent feedback and ask your teacher for help.
Using the progress report
- Look for outcomes where your mastery is improving.
- Review trends to see whether your performance is rising or falling.
- Use outcome feedback to know what to focus on next.
Practical advice
- If a trend is down, ask your teacher for specific guidance.
- If confidence is low, keep working on the same outcome to build consistency.
- Focus on the lowest outcomes first, then strengthen the highest ones.
Example student action plan
- Identify one outcome with
Lowmastery. - Review teacher feedback for that outcome.
- Set a specific goal for the next assignment.
- Check your progress again after the next snapshot.
